As a result of redistricting following the 2010 Census, your voting precinct and/or Supervisor district may have been changed by your Harrison County Board of Supervisor.

If you are unsure of whether the redistricting has affected you, please contact the Harrison County Circuit Clerk's office at 228-865-4005.

I am extremely humbled that the voters of District Two have chosen me to represent them as a Harrison County Supervisor. I come to this job with experience in working in government, having served twelve years on the Gulfport City Council. Six of the twelve years I was also honored to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. With Harrison county being largely urbanized, my experience in city government lends itself to "hitting the ground running" in order to deliver taxpayer services.

I am a fiscal conservative and believe that most folks want government to minimize its involvement in their lives and particularly when it comes to taxes. Since being elected in 2008, we have managed to cut millage once and your Board of Supervisors is constantly monitoring the budget for unnecessary spending so that we can maintain a stable tax rate.
The opportunities in Harrison County are boundless and growth is what fuels our economy. Balancing growth with the people's desire for minimum change is always a challenge. The advent of zoning in the county in 2000 was a major step in the right direction but conflicts still inevitably arise. Zoning is an emotional issue and I encourage everyone to speak their minds when and if a zoning change comes to the area in which your home or business is located.

Please avail yourself of the numerous online services Harrison County offers. I also hope that you will stay in touch regarding concerns or needs that we may address. Our website has several email addresses for various departments and I encourage you to contact me by phone or email anytime you have a concern.

My office can be reached at 228-865-4122 or by email to dmatthews@co.harrison.ms.us

I, like all of you, have chosen to live and raise a family in the county we all call home. Through a cooperative effort let's all work to make our home all that it can be.
