When constructing or renovating a building or an addition, this should be your first stop. All building permits, including heating, plumbing, electrical, and mobile home are issued through this office for both commercial and residential projects. All licensing for electricians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors is approved and handled by this office.
The Code Office also maintains the Emergency 911 system we all rely on so heavily in times of emergency. They regularly update the addresses to accommodate the growing community.
- Residential Building Permits
- Need Zoning Approval for intended use & setbacks approved by Zoning Administrator, Patrick Bonck (228-831-3367).
- Complete the Building Application.
- Bring in the Set Of Plans of the dwelling you are planning to build.
- Bring Plot Plan showing building on property with setbacks from front, sides & rear property lines.
- Bring a copy of the Deed Or Tax Receipt Or Signed Contract of the property you are building the dwelling on.
NOTE: If the property is in a special flood hazard area additional information will be required.

- Complete the building permit application.
- Provide a copy of the deed or tax receipt of property.
- Provide structural design analysis of existing roof.
- Provide proper design analysis for wind/seismic.
- Provide plans showing layout of solar panels on roof, clearances, etc.
- Provide fastening design to roof members.
- Provide electrical layout and schematic to tie existing electrical service or to battery system.
- Provide description of electrical work to be performed for electrical permit.
- Provide value of work for building permit.
- Mobile Home Permits

- Your Mobile Home Registration Certificate. If you mobile home is not registered in Harrison County, please take your bill of sale on the mobile home to the Tax Collector's Office, located in the Harrison County Courthouse, for registration.
- Bring a Plot Plan showing the location of the mobile home on the property with setbacks from front, sides & rear property lines.
- A Deed Or Tax Receipt Or Signed Contract of the land you are to locate on private property.
NOTE: If the property is in a special flood hazard area additional information will be required.
- Bring in the Soil Evaluation Certificate (Form 335) after the soil test is completed by the Harrison County Health Department (1-855-220-0192 or www.healthyms.com/wwapply) if a new septic tank or sewer treatment plant is being installed. Once installed we must have the final certificate of acceptance from the Health Department (Form 910). No power will be called in to the power company until the final certificate is in this office. If utilizing an existing septic system, that is currently in use, we will require a Form 910 from the Health Department. If utilizing an existing septic system, that is currently not in use, we will require a Pumpers Affidavit from a licensed septic system installer stating that the system has been inspected and approved. If connecting to an approved sewer and water system you will be required to furnish a letter of acceptance from the utility company prior to the issuance of the mobile home permit.

In a mobile home park all connections to mobile homes must be made by Harrison County Licensed Contractors. They are responsible for their permits and for calling for the inspections.
