HARRISON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RECOGNIZE U.S. NAVY CODE BREAKER ON CENTENNIAL BIRTHDAY
The Harrison County Board of Supervisors recognized the centennial birthday of Lois Hogan, a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport. The Harrison County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution acknowledging Ms. Hoganís contributions as a code breaker for the U.S. Navy. She turned 100 on February 5.
Ms. Hogan was born in rural Tennessee on Feb. 5, 1920. After enlisting in the U.S. Navy, she went to Washington, D.C. where she served as a code breaker. She is credited with being part of the team that broke the code just before the Battle of Midway during WWII.
