  • Elected as Supervisor, District 1, of Harrison County.
  • Elected President of Harrison County Board of Supervisors 1st day in office.
  • Rod and Reel Mechanic at Kirks Tackle Shop during High School years.
  • Became the first full time executive director of the MS. Coast Restaurant & Beverage Association representing more than 181 members in all three Coast Counties.
  • Founding coordinator of the Chefs of the Coast…now a 30 year event and one of the largest on the MS. Gulf Coast. Again, included all three coast counties.
  • Coordinated efforts, lobbied and obtained passage by the MS. State Legislature recognizing “tourism” as an actual industry. Thereby affording tourism related businesses equal treatment to other industries; i.e., manufacturing, agriculture, etc.
  • Appointed by the Governor of Mississippi to serve as a Commissioner on the MS. Coast Coliseum Commission and served as such during first expansion of the MS. Coast Convention Center.
  • Treasurer of “Mississippians For Jobs”: a successful campaign legalizing dockside gambling.
  • Named by Coast Business Journal as 1992’s “Business People to Watch”.
  • Named Executive Director of MS. Casino Operators Association, – then a regional association of Coast Casinos.
  • Created the Southern Gaming Summit: the MS. Gaming Conference and Expo, which has grown to be the largest event of its kind by the U.S. commercial casino industry, outside of Nevada.
  • Served as Mississippi’s delegate to the North American Think Tank on Youth Gambling Issues at Harvard Medical School - Division of Addictions.
  • Instrumental in the creation of and obtaining funding for the MS. Council on Problem Gambling.
  • Founding Board member and instrumental in creation of “Cruisin the Coast”: the largest special event with locations in all 3 Coast Counties.
  • Received the “Distinguished Service Award” presented by the MS. Hotel Association.
  • Awarded the Billy Creel Excellence in Tourism Award by Harrison County Tourism Commission.
  • Commendation (SR 62) by Mississippi State Senate for contribution to tourism on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
  • First Mississippian to be named “25 People to Watch” by Global Gaming Business Magazine…an international publication.
  • Appointed by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors to serve as Commissioner on the Harrison County Tourism Commission.
  • Named Executive Director of the newly expanded MCOA which included representation of casinos throughout the state of Mississippi where I remained in that capacity until 2011.
  • Nationally recognized by Casino Journal Magazine as one of its 15 major “2005 Newsmakers in the Gaming Industry”.
  • Instrumental in coordination of efforts in getting on-shore gaming passed in MS. State Legislature Special Session following Hurricane Katrina.
  • Elected by the Commissioners of the Harrison County Tourism Commission to serve as President and subsequently elected to a 2nd term.
  • Recognized by Meeting News Magazine as outstanding Meeting Planner for work on The Southern Gaming Summit.
  • Created Advisory Board to the HCTC Advertising Committee made up of private sector tourism industry leaders from hotel / restaurant / attractions / sports and gaming industries.
  • Served as volunteer Interim Executive Director of Harrison County Tourism Commission.
  • Expanded Southern Gaming Summit to include BingoWorld Conference & Expo which resulted in Conference moving from Las Vegas, NV to Biloxi, MS.
  • First to publically request money from BP for tourism compensation; i.e., $7.5 million per month, to offset national publicity on spill, which eventually helped to obtain current funding.
  • Appointed by Governor Phil Bryant to serve on the GOCoast 2020 Commission … a commission created by the Governor to plan expenditures of BP Restore Act Funds.


Other Qualifications / Initiatives:

  • Coordinate work with Hotel Assoc. and Casinos for Super Bowl events and transportation efforts, including advertising and packaging.
  • Chaired and Coordinated Convention of MS. Hotel and Lodging Association.
  • Coordinate work with HCTC and Casinos for joint venture / partnership co-operative advertising campaigns totaling more than $600,000.00.
  • Coordinated efforts with Hancock and Harrison County, State, and casinos for hurricane preparedness, including volunteering at EOC and obtaining donations of food for EOC / County workers during and prior to disasters. Liaison for press and tourism industry.
  • Co-owner of the Villas at Ocean Club – a Condo Hotel.
  • Member of the MS. Hotel and Lodging Association. Board member of same.
  • Honorary lifetime member of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
  • Inaugural member of University of Southern Mississippi Dept. of Tourism Management in the College of Business’s “Partnering With Professionals”.
